FOUR Bramshott and Liphook parish councillors were due to resign this week in the wake of the sacking of parish clerk Tony Groves.

Anna James, Bill Mouland, Eve Hope and John Tough announced they intended handing in their resignations.

The most significant resignation is that of Eve Hope, who was chairman of the council at the time of the clerk's suspension, on full pay, last September.

With a background in human resources, she was in charge of the initial investigation into Mr Groves' conduct. But she alleges she quit when some councillors tried to interfere – saying they would table a vote of no confidence in her unless she complied.
