QUESTIONS regarding the controversial Willows nursery plans have been raised by Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council.

Members asked about letter the War Memorial Recreation Ground trustees had received from the Charity Commission about granting a lease to allow the nursery to remain in the Pavilion building it had occupied for the last 14 years.

Shauna Horsley, who had written to the commission asking if a lease could be granted to the nursery, requested a statement from the trustees at Monday’s meeting concerning the letter she had received from Tony Robinson – which stated he had “advised the trustees they could do so assuming the building occupied a very small part of the overall recreation ground and so, by granting such a lease, the charity would still be able to allow the majority of the land to be used for recreational purposes.”

Jane Ives, one of the trustees, addressed Mrs Horsley’s request stating the trustees acted on the advice they received from the Charity Commission, in July.

She said: “We made a statement at a public meeting in good faith, based on the information received at that time.

“We wrote again to the Charity Commission to get further clarification and were dismayed to receive a reply that contradicted the advice given earlier.

“Because of the ambiguity in the information we have received we will be holding a trustees’ meeting imminently to discuss this issue.”
