BRAMSHOTT and Liphook Parish Council received grant applications totalling £22,100 for the period covering 2016/17.
After discussions, the finance and policy committee decided to grant £18,500 and felt a reserve of £1,500 should be maintained and made available for small projects throughout the year.
Since larger grant requests had to be scaled back, the following figures were approved by councillors:
St Mary’s Church, Bramshott, will receive £2,800 for grounds maintenance, East Hampshire Citizens’ Advice Bureau will be given £4,000 for local provision, Liphook in Bloom received £1,700 towards continued costs of planting and the Carnival and Bonfire committee will get £2,250 toward staging the annual event.
The Royal British Legion was granted £250 for Remembrance Service, the Bramshott War Memorial Trust received £250 towards maintenance costs, the Peak Centre Trust was awarded £3,000 to help with running costs of the day centre, Home Start will get £450 towards volunteer costs and Liphook Age Concern’s grant of £1,600 will assist with the purchase of a nine-seater mini-bus.
Liphook Tennis Club will receive £1,900 for resurfacing the hard court and the Jubilee Sailing Trust has been given £300 towards voyage subsidies.
The parish council also granted free use of the Millennium Centre to Liphook Youth Club, rather than a cash sum. The youth club has recently re-opened and is meeting every other Monday at the centre.
A grant application by Bramshott and Liphook Arts and Crafts Society was rejected, due to its lateness and because the organisation currently receives free use of the Millennium Centre for its annual exhibition, due to take place in June 2016.
