THIS year’s traditional ‘Walk of Witness’ on Good Friday morning, again brought together members of the Anglican, Methodist and Catholic churches from across the parish on one of the most important days of the Christian calendar.
A cross had been planted earlier that morning outside St Mary’s Church, in Bramshott, and passages were read from the Bible. Participants for the walk gathered at the Methodist Church, in London Road, Liphook, before setting off on their route around the village, through The Square, past Sainsbury’s supermarket in Midhurst Road, and down Station Road – before arriving at the Church Centre, off Portsmouth Road.
Hot cross buns were served there and children were able to join an Easter Egg hunt. Reverend Valentine Inglis-Jones, who arrived as parish priest six years ago on Palm Sunday, has taken part in the event every year – meeting and speaking to parishioners along the route, while re-enacting Jesus’ final journey walking through the streets of Jerusalem to Golgotha before his crucifixion.
