THE announcement this week of the creation of the South Downs National Park has delighted councillors in Whitehill and Bordon because it places the town on the doorstep of rolling acres of countryside that will bring thousands of tourists to the area.

With Whitehill and Bordon heading for possible eco-status - both with its Green Town Vision and as one of the 10 eco-towns being set up by the Government - being on the edge of a national park will add status to its growing profile and the promise of more visitors to enjoy new facilities.
