PROPOSED parking meters in Haslemere have caused "a great deal of discontent among residents", according to the Haslemere Society.

Society president Robert Serman says the meters, proposed by Surrey County Council, will swell the county coffers, but would be unsightly and do nothing to solve the town's parking problems.
