ALMOST 3,800 different motorists have used the new pay-by-phone parking service RingGo since it launched in all Waverley owned car parks on Monday, April 4.
During April RingGo was used by motorists more than 9,800 times in total. One driver used it to pay for parking 31 times – that’s around every day since it became available – and a total of 139 vehicles were parked using RingGo on10 or more occasions.
The three car parks where RingGo is used most by drivers are all in Farnham:
• Central, Farnham - 1,281 overall transactions.
• Lower Hart, Farnham - 1,061 overall transactions.
• Upper Hart, Farnham - 1,022 overall transactions.
The busiest day for RingGo usage is on Saturdays, with the service being used on average 455 times.
Richard Homewood, head of environmental services at Waverley Borough Council, said: “Waverley is delighted at the number of people who have chosen to pay for parking with RingGo.
“The council has had a lot of positive feedback and is happy to offer customers an easy, mobile and cashless alternative to paying for parking using coins.
“What’s more, it gives people more flexibility to enjoy the borough’s brilliant town centres and parks as they can top up their parking from anywhere using the app, if they need more time.”
The new mobile phone service enables drivers to pay for parking by credit or debit card.
Anyone who has an iPhone, an Android, Blackberry 10, Windows or Firefox mobile phone can download and use the RingGo app to register and pay for parking.
Alternatively motorists can call the standard rate telephone number 01483 342266, shown on the signs at parking machines, at the time they want to park.
However, drivers will be charged up to 40 per cent extra for using the service, with each transaction liable to a 19p ‘convenience fee’ plus an optional 10p ‘SMS reminder charge’ and 10p ‘SMS summary charge’.
