HARTLEY Wintney is playing host to Phyllis Tuckwell’s first ever ‘Firewalk’ this autumn.
The charity will be holding its first ever Firewalk on Sunday, October 23, at the Elvetham Hotel in Hartley Wintney, and is now on the lookout for plucky participants to take on the challenge.
The Firewalk will be run by Time4Change (T4C), a training and events organisation which draws upon motivational psychology, neuro-linguistic programming and the martial arts to tap into our inner resources of fearlessness and self-belief.
Before the walk, participants will attend a training seminar run by T4C instructor Cliff Mann, who has safely guided thousands of people over hot coals and today is recognised as the most experienced firewalking instructor in the UK and Europe.
This training is being dubbed as just as important as the Firewalk itself, and the skills and attitudes learnt in the seminar will stay with those brave enough to take the challenge, for life.
All participants must be aged 16 and over and registration is £30 and Phyllis Tuckwell asks that a minimum sponsorship of £100 is raised.
The Firewalk will be made up of a combination of red-hot pine, ash and oak embers, the lane stretching around 15-20ft and 2-3ft wide, with a core temperature of 400-600°F.
Fiona Chapman, events fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell said: “The Firewalk is a new event for us and we are very excited about it.
“It really will push participants to their limits, helping them find their inner strength and self-belief. We would like to thank Bellway who are very kindly sponsoring the event, and encourage anyone who is considering taking on this challenge to believe in yourself and go for it!”
Those taking part will need to arrive at the Elvetham Hotel at 2.30pm to sign in, and the seminar will start at 3pm. At 5pm, participants will be taken outside for the Firewalk. To find out more, or to register, visit www.pth.org.uk/firewalk, email [email protected] or call 01252 729446.
