The award was given to the school by Trauma Informed UK Schools (TISUK) and The Centre for Child Mental Health (CCMH).

According to TISUK, a trauma-informed school supports children and teenagers dealing with trauma or mental health difficulties whose behaviour impacts their learning.

CCMH does events that focus on continuing professional development for anyone working directly to support child mental health.
