PATRONS at a pub near Petersfield have dug deep yet again to support a national cause.

But drinkers at The Harrow Inn in Steep swapped beer and wine for caffeine and cake as part of the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan.

And they did the pub and the charity proud by raising a whopping £1,700 thanks to a bring-and-buy table, bric a brac, a produce stall, the sale of flowers and vegetables, and the compulsory purchase of coffee, tea and biscuits. Last Friday's coffee morning raffle alone raised £400.

"There were easily 200 people there during the morning," said delighted organiser Selina Garstin, who thanked "all those who helped on the coffee morning, from those manning the raffle and selling goods to those helping with the washing up".
