SURREY’S Police and Crime Commissioner, Kevin Hurley, has been presented with a new national Transparency Quality Mark.

The mark recognises the openness of the police commissioner and his office, and their willingness to communicate with residents of Surrey.

Key to this public engagement is the crime summits Mr Hurley holds annually across the county, where residents can come and take part in discussions about police and community safety issues.

The next Waverley crime summit will take place on January 18, 2016 at a venue to be decided.

Mr Hurley said: “In line with my priority to give the public more say on how their streets are policed, it is vital in my view that the public are well informed on not only how they are policed, but in what my office and I are doing to hold Surrey Police to account in every area.

“I am delighted to receive this award, and to see my staff recognised in this way.”
