The county’s newly-elected Police and Crime Commissioner David Munro has launched a public consultation on his plans for Surrey Police to ensure residents’ voices are heard.
Having already outlined a series of priorities, Farnham resident and Conservative councillor Mr Munro would now like to hear what the public think of these plans.
His pledges are to: Cut crime and keep Surrey safe; tackle rural crime; make our town centres safe; support victims; make every pound count, and tackle the threat of terrorism.
Mr Munro, who has also vowed to resign as a county and borough councillor after the June 23 EU referendum, said: “My six-point policing plan to cut crime and build safer communities will set the scene for Surrey policing for the next four years.
“This is a crucial consultation and I hope as many people as possible can respond.”
These priorities will form the basis of the Police and Crime Plan which the commissioner is required to produce.
The full plan will set out the PCC’s strategy during his time in office, and must include his objectives for policing, what resources will be provided to the new permanent chief constable once appointed and how performance will be measured.
The consultation is available via the Surrey PCC website www.surrey-pcc.gov.uk/consultation.
The consultation is also available by post. Call the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner on 01483 630 200, alternatively email [email protected] or write to Surrey Police, PO Box 101, Guildford, GU1 9PE.
