Guy Singer has found yet another photograph of the Vickers Virginia bomber that crashed in Old Park, Farnham, in 1931.

You may recall we featured it recently when contacted by the Shuttleworth Trust magazine Prop Swing but Guy’s photograph comes from a contemporary issue of The Sphere.

He writes: “All your pictures show the plane in a field.

“However, I found a report in The Sphere and the picture there shows it definitely in the road... and also mentions it blocking the road. I wonder if anyone can recognise the house in the background?”

Interestingly, in the original Herald report it mentions the location as being in ‘Brick Kiln Lane’ at Old Park yet this is not a name that appears on maps today. Can anyone definitely identify the location in Old Park?

Precise location was always something that puzzled me when I first featured the accident many years ago in this column.

Perhaps now, thanks to Guy’s photograph, we might be able to pin it down firmly.
