READERS’ help is sought for another not-so-ancient piece of Farnham’s history that seems to have largely disappeared from view.
The Farnham Lions were started in 1968. One of the first fundraising events was a drive by four Lions members from the UK to Moscow and back.
At each stopping point they sent an envelope back to ‘authenticate’ their visit.
One of their ‘souvenir’ cards recently came into the possession of Guy Singer, who has asked whether anyone has any more information on the event itself.
Phil Williams of the Farnham Lions has supplied a photograph of the car that made the journey, thought to be a Ford Zephyr 6.
I suspect the event might have been supported by a local motor dealer. If so, which one?
It was styled as the ‘First’ run – did any more take place and, if not, can you tell us why?
If anyone has any information on the run, or the signatories, please get in touch with Peeps or direct with Guy Singer at [email protected]
