THE Farnham fundraising group for Marie Curie supports Carers’ Week raised £3,000 during a collection at Sainsbury’s Water Lane.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity for people with any terminal illness. The charity helps people living with a terminal illness and their families make the most of the time they have together by delivering expert hands-on care, emotional support, research and guidance.

Carers’ Week, which takes place from June 12 to June 18, is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges that carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

Group members gave up their free time to raise as much money as possible, by handing out leaflets and information about Marie Curie and how the charity can support carers.

Group secretary Jill Channing said: “We are incredibly grateful to the shoppers and staff for their generosity and support and, of course, to all the dedicated volunteers who helped us.”
