PEOPLE living near a greenfield site in Petersfield will be fortunate to avoid any development, according to the mayor.

David Wilson Homes is on the cusp of submitting plans to build 76 homes on open land between The Causeway and Broadway Park.

Documents submitted on behalf of the firm also suggest that new proposals to build on Causeway Farm and Penns Field are also being prepared.

But a recent show of people power shows that residents are still determined to prevent a wave of housebuilding around south-east Petersfield.
