ALL Hallows Catholic School in Farnham is celebrating after receiving a 100 per cent pass rate following the release of its A-level results last Thursday, with students excelling in subjects such as maths, physics, chemistry and biology.
Baptiste Johnson, was thrilled to receive three A*s. He said: “I am heading to Bristol to study maths. It just happened a bit quickly, I didn’t even know you could check online in the morning. This is the icing on the cake. I am so happy.”
While fellow student, Rebecca Tabbener, received two A*s and one A, said: “I am very happy, I was one mark off a A* in chemistry, but it’s going to go for a re-mark so hopefully that will go up.
“I wasn’t expecting it, I thought I might have gone to clearing, so I was very happy to get my insurance. I am going Durham to study maths.”
Teachers continued to celebrate as results surpassed those obtained in 2016, with 62 per cent of students receiving a A* to B grades and 87 per cent being awarded A* to C grades.
Teresha Fanshawe, head of sixth form, said: “It was an exciting day but stressful. It makes you feel sick. It has all gone very, very well and our grades are up on last year.
“The 100 per cent pass rate is wonderful because we are in this new era, where students can come in thinking they’ve done well and they don’t have the safety net of ASs anymore, so that’s wonderful and we are really happy.
“In the end we had five students that had to go through clearing, the rest all got their offers, so I’ve got a smile on my face.
“All of the staff have come in to be with the kids, they are amazing. The staff are just amazing.”
