Sir, – Some 20 years ago while I was living in Yorkshire, there was a large survey done on traffic movements through the centre of two of the north's major towns, Nottingham and Leeds. It was said to have cost "whoever" £110,000, the result was interesting, "There is no doubt that where there is the most traffic you're most likely to get congestion and accidents"!
Now surveys have begun regarding the A3 at Hindhead, I wonder if we might be in for a similar "surprise conclusion". Also, I wonder if the cost of this latest scheme will ever be published and, if so, will it make any real sense?
