FORMER Treloar student Peter Langton was among the podium places during the WheelPower National Junior Games at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium.
He finished first in both the polybat and electric slalom events and third in boccia in the games, which is an annual event for young people with disabilities aged between 11 and 18.
Peter, who was 18 at the time and now studies at Alton College, has been playing boccia since 2009 and was hooked on the game when his PE teachers at his school suggested he got involved and gave it a go.
“He trains once or twice every week and would love to compete at a higher level in the future.
He said: “Maybe one day I could become a gold Paralympian medallist like former Alton College student David Smith.”
Peter is studying the Cambridge technical level three certificate in sport and hopes to go on to become a sports coach to encourage young people in disabled sports.
He explained: “My involvement in boccia has been brilliant. In 2011, I travelled with two other students for a group game in Sheffield to represent the South East and we came second from teams of young sports people across the whole country.”
