A NURSERY in Bordon celebrated its second birthday with a party.

Tootsies Private Day Nursery manager Kelly Gray said of the January 16 fun: “Children and staff had a lovely day, with face painting, birthday cake and a surprise visit from Peter Rabbit.

“The children did love seeing Peter Rabbit and were very happy just giving him a cuddle and waving at him.”

Beatrix Potter’s first Peter Rabbit book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, was published in 1902 and was the first of a series of six that ended in 1912. His adventures have since been brought to life on television – in a series showing every day on CBeebies, the BBC’s channel for children of nursery age – and in a feature-length film for which James Corden provided Peter’s voice.

The Bordon branch of Tootsies, based in Forest Road, marked an expansion for the company, which has run nurseries in Farnham since April 2004.

In November 2015, the Farnham branch received an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted.

At Bordon, Rohan Davies has the role of deputy manager, while Joanna Maginnes is the curriculum manager.
