Champagne corks were popping to celebrate a Lynchmere photographer’s double win at a prestigious competition.
Peter Searight took home two awards from the prestigious Master Photographer’s Association, MPA, 2017 Awards.
Winning the Regional Fine Art Prize for his image ‘Wave in the Woods’ and the esteemed Fine Art/Pictorial Commercial & Creative Photographer of the Year award, Peter’s image was selected from 1,600 entries worldwide.
Peter has been a professional photographer for 13 years and is founder of The Remarkable Studio which he runs with his wife Louise in Lynchmere, near Haslemere.
The awards are the latest accolade for Peter, following a string of successes including a Gold Award from the Royal Horticultural Society and a prestigious ‘Fellowship Distinction in Fine Art’ from the British Institute of Professional Photography. “It’s really exciting to get not just one but two awards at this year’s MPA event,” said a delighted Peter.
It attracts top photographers from around the country. The short list for the creative and commercial category contained some pretty formidable competition. “My winning shot, was taken on Lynchmere Common, only a few hundred yards from our house,” he added.
Peter’s entry (pictured) was an abstract landscape of something very familiar – birch trees – presented in a very unfamiliar way.
Peter added: “It generated quite a bit of excitement among the judges and I had some wonderful feedback at the awards which continuously raise professional standards in the industry.”
