PETERSFIELD Town took all three points from their clash with strugglers Hythe & Dibden on Saturday, thanks to goals from in-form players Gavin Keogh and John Bristow either side of half-time.

On a soggy Waterside pitch, it took Keogh just five minutes to put Town in front and extend his goal-scoring run to three in three games.

The match had been in doubt after a lunchtime downpour and the conditions were always going to be tough.

But Petersfield stuck to their task and ensured they did not undo the good work of recent results.

Town looked fairly comfortable, but with just one goal separating the sides, there was always the chance of Hythe clawing their way back into the match.

And with 15 minutes to go, it could have been a very different story when Hythe were awarded a penalty.

But Town 'keeper Lloyd Patilla made a comfortable save to deny the home side a lifeline.

Off the hook, Petersfield capitalised five minutes later and Bristow followed up last week's hat-trick with a goal that put the game out of reach.

Petersfield climb to 13th in the Hampshire Premier League with 11 games to play.

They will be hoping to keep the winning streak going on Saturday when they face bottom club Fawley at Love Lane.

Petersfield Town Res 0, Locksheath Res 4. Petersfield Reserves crashed out of the Trophyman Combination Cup in a physical quarter-final clash with Locksheath in midweek.

And Town manager Richard Archbald found himself watching from the changing-rooms after being sent off for venting his anger at some of the refereeing decisions.

Petersfield were two down at half-time and could not find a way back in the second half.

But Archbald said he was pleased with the team's cup run that saw them overcome two first division sides on their way to the quarter-finals.

"We have five or six 16-year-olds and a couple of 18-year-olds doing the job of experienced players. We just need the thinking part now," he said.

"Thanks go to Paul Massey (coach) who has brought some fantastic young players to the club."

The Reserves now turn their attentions to the league and they still have an outside chance of promotion.

On Wednesday night, Petersfield were set to take on A&T Awbridge at Love Lane.
