A PETITION has been started up in the town calling on Waverley Borough Council to reverse its decision to charge for extra hours in Haslemere car parks.

Signatures had already exceeded more than 300 by the middle of this week. The borough council, which controls off-road parking in car parks, extended charging hours from 6pm to 7pm, back in February.

But according to traders, along with Haslemere Hall and Haslemere Museum, the borough council had not adequately advertised or consulted on the changes.
