TWO protest petition calling for road safety improvements at three Witley schools will be heard at Waverley Local Committee tomorrow (Friday, December 8).
The meeting has received a petition from Tony Sollars with 54 signatures, requesting Surrey County Council implements a 20mph zone around the Chandler and Barrow Hills schools in Witley.
Witley Parish Council have put forward suggestions for a 20mph zone around the Chandler and Barrow Hills schools in Witley to make it safer for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
A second petition with 110 signatures from Mr Luke Freeborough, requests Surrey County Council makes access to Witley Infant School safer, by installing appropriate signage at strategic points on Church Lane, including ‘20 is plenty’ and coloured road messaging.
“The road system in and around Witley Infant School is dangerous and not fit for purpose,” the petition states. “Crossing the road, accessing the car parking and access to Church Lane, both by car and on foot, is dangerous.”
The Safer Travel Team will investigate both issues and report back to Waverley Local Committee. The meeting starts at 10am, at Godalming Baptist Church.
