Mike Bryan, chairman of the Non-partisan Petition Group, which is behind the petition, plans to walk it the whole way himself, accompanied by those supporters who are willing and able to make the journey.
"We are looking at how we might organise the walk in stages. In order to maximise publicity we want to do it all in daylight, hitting various high streets at the right time for maximum impact," Mr Bryan explained.
The petition was launched in June, when feelings were running high over Waverley's controversial Brightwells development and the perception that unfair housing targets were being proposed by the borough council for the town.
