BORDON residents attempted to carry on as normal this week in the face of one of the biggest and most effective protests witnessed in modern Britain.

As the refinery blockades began to bite there were few visible indications of the extent of the crisis other than the empty petrol station forecourts along the A325 and as the Herald went to press the first signs of rationing of essential items began to appear in some town centre shops.
