THE leadership exodus from Waverley Borough Council continued this week with the departure of chief executive Mary Pett just minutes before councillors agreed to bin the authority's disastrous core strategy planning blueprint.

As many as 10 senior leaders are rumoured to have departed the council over the past 12 months, and in September Waverley's planning portfolio holder Bryn Morgan was suspended from the council's executive committee after criticising planning officers.

Mrs Pett, who earned around £130,000 a year - just shy of the Prime Minister's salary - was this week given a golden handshake by the Tory-led council after presiding over its ill-fated core strategy as director of planning.
