PHYLLIS Tuckwell Hospice was the recipient of a cheque for £709 from Bourne Bowls Club.

Raised at the ‘Powder Puff’ day, the event saw ladies from bowls clubs across Surrey and Hampshire take part in an afternoon at the Bourne club.

They competed in several bowling challenges, including the spoon drive and the Powder Puff, the latter of which was won by Jackie Cavanagh of Odiham Bowls Club.

“We would like to thank the Bourne Bowls Club for this wonderful donation, and for supporting Phyllis Tuckwell through their ‘Powder Puff’ day for the past seven years,” said Leanne Magee, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell.

She added: “That £709 could pay for nearly a week’s worth of physiotherapy sessions from one of our highly-qualified physiotherapists.”
