OCTOGENARIAN and member of the Rotary Club of Farnham, Michael Atkinson, has completed the challenge of walking the Clarendon Way pilgrim route from Salisbury to Winchester.

On Monday, September 3, at 9am Michael set off from Salisbury Cathedral with Rotarian colleague Norma Corkish and grandson Luke Hamilton.

Twenty one kilometres and seven hours later they reached Broughton (about the half way mark), and on the following Saturday Michael and grandson Luke returned to Broughton to walk the remaining 21km.

They completed the whole walk six hours 15 minutes later at Alfred the Great’s statue, close to the Winchester Cathedral - raising much-needed funds for charity CHIKS, supporting orphans in south-western India.
