GO wild for this year’s Dockenfield Day, “the pint-sized fete, with the big, big heart”, coming to town this June.
The theme this year is ‘On Safari’, a theme which opens up an array of doors for both costume and make-up.
As well as the loveable pole joust, coconut shy, bash the rat and all day barbecue, there will be a bouncy castle, pig racing, children’s races, tug of war, a dog show and not forgetting, Dockenfield’s very own human fruit machine.
In-between events visitors can browse through a spread of stalls which will include toys, plants, ice cream, books, a tombola, DVDs CDs, paintings and cakes.
To help keep costs to minimum, the games and events are free and the stalls cost as little as 10p to have a go.
Also making an appearance to the yearly event is entertainer, Mr Giant, who will keep the kids occupied and there’ll be plenty of time to visit the bar, barbecue or other stalls. There will also be the usual competition for best dressed.
Everyone from Dockenfield and the surrounding area is welcome, so don’t miss out on the fun, get down to the Playing Field at Abbotts Cottages, Dockenfield, on Saturday, June 3, from 2pm until 6pm.
The team is still on the lookout for volunteers, whether this is by assisting the team in advance or on the day, lots of hands are needed to make sure the event is run safely and successfully.

Alternatively if anyone has anything they would like to donate to the stalls, they can do this by dropping off the items at one of the following drop off points:
