A FOND farewell to the “inspirational” co-founder of Grayshott’s PK Pre-School was paid at a 30th anniversary tea party.
Kay Houlin, the ‘K’ of PK, which she helped found with Penny Verity, the ‘P’, is retiring after many years of loyal service, and staff, parents, pupils and friends joined together to say goodbye and thank you at the event in her honour.
The nursery celebrated its 30th year at Grayshott Village Hall on June 30, with an evening of entertainment, in which Ellie Reidy a former PK pupil sang, guests competed in a quiz devised by past parent Ian Boswell, and grand parent Mike Dieghan from jazz band Temperance Seven gave a performance.
“The PK committee would like to thank Moorlands Lodge, Barons BMW and the Royal School for sponsoring the June 30 event, which raised a fantastic £3,300,” play leader Carol Houghton said.
“PK was opened in 1987 by Penny Verity and Kay Houlin, and Penny came over from the Isle of Wight to join the tea party, where with a hint of sadness, everybody gathered together to wish Kay a happy retirement.
“Kay has been an inspiration to many over the 30 years. She is a special lady who will be greatly missed.”
