OUTLINE plans to build 19 homes to replace two in Longmoor Road, Liphook have been recommended fpr approval despite massive local opposition.
The amended application is due to be discussed by East Hampshire District Council's south planning committee at a meeting next Thursday.
The original proposal for 18 homes was deferred for a site visit to take place, and in the meantime developers Strathmoor Developments have added the extra home. The amended plans also remove the potential access to the allocated housing site to the rear.
The site is on the north side of Longmoor Road, to the rear of numbers 94 to 102 and in between Forest Lane Close and Chalcraft Close.
Twenty two letters of objection have been submitted by local residents. Reasons include: poor surface water drainage leading to flooding, presence of wildlife on the site, poor visibility at the access point, inadequate parking and increased traffic in the area and noise pollution.
At a meeting of Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council last month, one resident said that Liphook lacked the infrastructure to cope with more large developments like this one, with no police station and over subscribed schools.
The parish council has also opposed the proposal as an over development.
Outline permission is recommended by EHDC's planners in their report to the council. It is argued that although the site is currently outside the Liphook settlement policy boundary, it would be within it after the second review.
Several conditions for permission have been suggested, including a financial contribution towards the provision of public open space and for the improvements of educational facilities.
Thirty per cent of the housing must also be affordable.
