MEMBERS agreed at a Whitehill Town Council amenities committee meeting that the best way to keep residents updated on the town regeneration plans was to put the information on noticeboards in bus shelters.
The only problem was that some buses might be re-routed in the regeneration development plan and so the shelters would not be used.
Councillors agreed that the shelters on two of the main bus routes through the town - Hogmoor Road and Conde Way - would be good sites for the new information boards because they were well used. But the worry was that, due to new road building and development, some bus routes might be relocated and so the shelters there would not be used.
It was a good way of keeping the public informed, said meeting chairman Chris Mitchell, and maybe they could add council updates at the shelters as well.
“We have been asked to provide more noticeboards to give out this information and we should have one at Firgrove (Road),” he said. “I just hope some of our bus services aren’t rerouted, say, away from Hogmoor as that is a fair old walk along there.”
It was agreed the bus shelter working party should consider the merits of continuing to investigate further before installing the information boards.
