A MOBILE phone company is hoping to put up a 12.5 metre telephone mast on a grass verge to the north side of Weydon Lane, near to the junction with the Farnham bypass.
T-Mobile, formerly One2One, has applied to Waverley Borough Council for planning permission to site what it calls an Òultra-slim monopoleÓ with antenna and dish and two equipment cabins so it can increase its network coverage.
Agents for T-Mobile, CommproTelecommunication, write in support of the planning application: ÒThe proposed installation is designed to augment our clientÕs existing network by Ôin-fillingÕ in areas of poor reception, increasing the capacity of the network in areas where this is presently inadequate, and as in this case, providing indoor coverage and coverage to the A31 Farnham bypass.Ó
Addressing health concerns about radiation, the agent states that emissions will fall Òwell withinÓ safety guidelines recommended in the Stewart report on radiation levels.
The mast will be 62 metres from the nearest houses.
Pilgrims Way School, which is nearby, has been notified.
