A SCHEME to improve cycling and walking in Whitehill, Bordon and Lindford has been launched by Hampshire County Council. It was announced that the council will conduct a community street audit, in order to develop a town access plan (TAP) following the accessibility pilot study which took place in the area. This is intended to form a long-term plan for improving accessibility in Whitehill, Bordon and Lindford. Whitehill, Bordon and Lindford's county councillor Adam Carew said: "Whitehill, Bordon and Lindford division is just one of four places in the whole of Hampshire to be targeted for an accessibility pilot study due to our appalling lack of public transport and inability to access shops and vital services - a situation that has not been helped by the lack of a railway or recent bus cuts." It is hoped that the community street audit will identify issues and gaps in pedestrian and cycle facilities on key routes in Whitehill, Bordon and Lindford for evaluation.  "Improving cycling and walking is a key part of our Green Town Vision and I am sure the street audit and town access plan will all feed into ongoing work about the future of our town." said Mr Crew. "Things are changing in Whitehill and Bordon. This is all very positive stuff and I am expecting a date for this meeting to be announced sometime towards the end of October," he added.
