PLANNERS have given the thumbs down to a bid to build on a SINC area known as the Sandpit, south of Moorlands and near the protected Hogmoor Inclosure.

It's an objection that could stop the development of 53 "much-needed houses" being built.

Chris Youngs, the eco-town co-ordinator, told Whitehill Town Council on April 2 that they were considering a second application for the site, by Kebbell Homes, for 14 houses at the Sandpit.

This followed the developer's first application, which had been successful and permission had been given to Kebbell Homes to build 53 houses on anther part of the site, including affordable housing.
