DEVELOPER Bewley Homes has applied for planning permission to build more than 100 new homes in the countryside between Farnham and Folly Hill.
The application to Waverley Borough Council details plans for a mix of 102 two-storey, one to five-bedroom homes - including 41 ‘affordable’ one to two-bedroom flats and two to three-bedroom houses.
It comes after Bewley Homes, in partnership with landowner Catesby Estates, held a public exhibition of its draft plans in March at Hale Village Hall.
The 15-acre greenfield site is currently used for horse grazing and is directly opposite Grade II listed Farnham Park, also bordering Old Park Lane.
If allowed, it would represent the second large development to be built in the fields between Farnham and Folly Hill in coming years, adding to Taylor Wimpey’s 120-home estate on the Beavers Road hop fields less than a mile to the south, granted planning permission in April 2015.
Waverley hopes to determine the application by mid-September and is currently inviting comments on the application which can be viewed online at www.waverley.gov.uk/planning under reference WA/2016/1224.
The deadline for comments is currently given as Friday, July 29. To-date 22 people have objected to the proposal with none in support.
