FARNHAM may face a wait of ‘up to six weeks’ to discover the fate of a legal challenge against the Brightwells regeneration scheme, it emerged this week.
The judge presiding over the High Court case against Waverley Borough Council’s scheme to build new shops, restaurants, a cinema and 239 flats on land south of East Street, had been expected to hand down his edict late last week, with a decision on whether the claim could proceed to a full judicial review to be released in public soon after.
However, according to council lawyers, “it is normal practice” for a decision of this kind to take between two to six weeks to be issued - potentially delaying the matter until mid to late March.
