A HOUSING developer has submitted a revised application for 89 new homes on land between Grade II-listed Farnham Park and Hale Road - exactly 100 dwellings fewer than originally proposed.
The latest application by PLOT (Farnham) Ltd adds to a 97-home scheme currently at appeal following Waverley Borough Council’s refusal of planning consent earlier this year, and a 189-home development withdrawn in 2015 amid widespread public opposition.
PLOT’s fresh bid includes 26 ‘affordable’ homes, a new ‘class D1’ community building, children’s play ground, and an on-site Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace to mitigate the development’s impact on the rare heathland surrounding Farnham.
The 29-acre site adjoins a green burial ground as well as Farnham Park Hotel and another Grade II-listed heritage asset St John Church, and falls outside of the built-up area boundary of the Farnham Neighbourhood Plan.
