A CONTROVERSIAL plan to build a block of flats on the site of a Petersfield youth centre has been withdrawn amid numerous complaints. Supporters of the Kings Arms have been given some breathing space as an outline plan to redevelop their home off Festival Hall car park has been pulled. The draft application to build a three-storey building comprising 11 flats was submitted in February. But the plan was called "an abomination" by one town councillor while several officers at East Hampshire District Council also objected. The application by the International Group Limited wasn't a full one and sought to approve the principle of redeveloping the site behind The Red Lion pub.
