AHEAD of a national day of industrial action on Wednesday, county councils have been putting in place contingency arrangements for schools.

A number of public sector unions have balloted members over strike action on November 30, in protest against the Government's proposals in respect of the local government and teachers' pension schemes.

The councils say the dispute is not with them, but the Government. The unions called the strike ballot after government proposals over public sector pensions.
