A LONG-awaited scheme to replace old play equipment for youngsters in Alton's Public Gardens has begun.

Alton Town Council has been undertaking a rolling programme of playground improvements in recent years, which has included upgraded safety surfacing at Holybourne Playground, new equipment at Anstey Park, and a new facility at Greenfields.
