TOWN man Phillip Mitchell has made a plea to Whitehill Town Council to help with the slowing down of traffic on Hogmoor Road.
“Motorists are coming down there at speed and I am losing animals and it is dangerous for pedestrians,” he told councillors at a meeting on February 29.
He said he had talked with town councillor Adam Carew (who is also the town council leader) about a SpeedWatch scheme being introduced along the road but nothing had happened yet.
Mr Carew said that over the years he had overseen the reduction of the speed limit along the road, and it was now 30mph.
He added: “But what we are talking about here is law enforcement and I have looked at getting money to establish a SpeedWatch but first I have to have someone put in a request to me.
“I can’t request it myself and I need that request so I can get a grant.
“Other roads, such as Liphook and Holywater roads, also need a speed check.”
Whitehill Town Council clerk Chris Youngs told Mr Mitchell that the council had a planning and highways committee and if he was to take his complaint to this committee, he said, “then they can lobby this on your behalf”.
