A PLEA has gone out to anyone living in and around Alton and Chawton who may have seen Marcus, a 16-year old tabby cat who has been missing from his home in Mounters Lane since Sunday.

According to owner Paula Hayward, he may have been spotted early on Monday morning but since then has not been seen.

Roaming far from home is, says Paula, totally out of character for Marcus, who she describes as “a large brown and white tabby”.

Microchipped and neutered, Marcus is “a nervous cat and not one for approaching people or vehicles”.

“He’s going deaf, has arthritis so is not that quick on his legs and can no longer jump onto my bed. He is also showing signs of onset dementia. He loves his food and always meows for it,” said Paula.

Marcus lives at Mounters Farm with his brother, who is missing him.

Paula has conducted an extensive search of the area, let the vets know, put out messages on social media and checked outbuildings, although there are a lot of places he could hide.
