HINDHEAD was transformed into an inspirational winter wonderland for artists last Friday after a heavy snowfall overnight on Thursday.
But pleasure turned to pain when busy approach roads became almost impassable for motorists.
“There were loads of cars slithering on the slope. They put on hi-vis jackets, which luckily they had, and pushed around 400 cars up the hill.
“They said some people had abandoned their cars on the hill which didn’t help matters. Most of the car owners they helped were very appreciative but they said others didn’t even thank them.”
Surrey Police tweeted their thanks to “some expert locals” who helped clear a fallen tree at around 1.30pm on Saturday in Hindhead Road.
