HUNDREDS of jolly visitors to Alice Holt Forest have got stuck into a series of Christmas workshops in recent weeks.
Around 250 people of all ages took part in a Christmas tree ornament workshop in the festively-decorated forest education centre on Saturday, December 2 - creating glittery fir cones and willow stars to hang on their tree at home.
This was followed by a series of Christmas wreath workshops last week, all of which were again well attended - attracting more than twice the number of bookings than last year.
Participants created traditional wreaths using professional florists materials and foliage gathered from the forest. These were then decorated with various items such as baubles, bells, ribbon, and handmade glittery fir cones.
Throughout the session, there was a constant supply of festive snacks and hot drinks, including mulled apple juice freshly made on a campfire in the forest.
Jennifer Law, Alice Holt project officer for Groundwork South (Solent Area), which led the sessions, said: “The wreaths made were all spectacular, and yet each was so unique. Participants raved about how much fun it was, with widespread agreement of wishing to return next year.”
Jennifer added: “We run lots of craft and educational events for all ages throughout the year, especially during the holidays. So people should be advised to keep an eye on the Alice Holt events page for the latest information.
“Alternatively, they can contact enquiries.alice
[email protected] to request be added to our Alice Holt events mailing list.”
