FARNHAM Maltings has a packed schedule of events to keep children entertained and enthused throughout the Easter break.
From a wide range of artistic and creative activities in the Maltings’ Easter school to multiple film screenings, there are lots in store for youngsters to enjoy.
• Tuesday, March 29, to Friday, April 1, 10am to 4pm - The Maltings’ Marvellous Easter School, an event spanning four days in which children can learn a whole host of skills including dance, percussion and printing. • Tuesday, March 29, 1pm to 3pm - Easter Biscuits. Decorate biscuits ready to make an Easter tree, using both icing and fondant. Biscuits and decorating materials are provided. For ages six to nine. Costs £12.
• Thursday, March 31, 8pm - Theatre Maltings presents Gargantua, by Carl Grose. Performed by Farnham Malting’s youth theatre group, The Young Company, as part of the National Theatre Connections’ 21st birthday celebrations, comes a truly unique story for the whole family to enjoy.
After a two-and-a-half year pregnancy, Mini Mungus finally gives birth… to a monster. With an accelerated growth rate and an insatiable appetite for anything that moves (including joggers), the world is wondering how this freak of nature will be stopped. • Friday, April 1, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm - Theatre Maltings presents Ground Control, by Non Zero One. In 1974, a manned mission was sent into space to look for inhabitable planets. 42 years later it may have just found such a planet and the astronauts are about to be woken from their hypersleep and they need your help. For ages seven to 12. Costs £8.
• Sunday, April 3, 2pm to 4.30pm - Big Fish, Little Fish Family Rave. The award-winning family arts festival is returning to Farnham for a second time after their sold out rave last year. Expect a live DJ playing eclectic house music, Captain Cookie running the Happy Monkey craft tables, the Villa Pia soft play zone, bubble machines, glitter cannons and lots more. • Tuesday, April 5, 7pm - The Railway Children. The stage adaptation of the classic story of Roberta, Phyllis and Peter’s upheaval to rural Yorkshire has now been directed for the big screen featuring the original locomotive from the much-loved 1970 film. £15 adult, £10 child; pre-show dining and ticket: £23 adult, £18 children.
• Thursday, April 7, 11am, 2pm and 6pm - Film Maltings presents The Good Dinosaur. From Pixar, The Good Dinosaur poses the dliemma what would have happened if the cataclysmic asteroid that changed life on Earth had missed and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Certificate PG, 101 minutes. £7 (£6 concessions, £5 under 15s, members £4). Pre-film specials available from the Riverside Cafe.
• Saturday, April 9, 10.30am to 12.30pm - Comedy Academy 4 Kids. This masterclass will teach youngsters the art of stand-up comedy, building up self-confidence and stage presence. For ages seven to 13. Costs £15.
• Saturday, April 9, 2pm - Comedy Club 4 Kids. A stand-up show specifically altered for children’s entertainment. For ages six-plus. Costs £9.
