THE Museum of Farnham has hailed its children’s workshops and new cafe “a huge success” this summer.
The museum has hosted an array of fun and fascinating events throughout the summer months, as well as inviting the public into its splendid garden to visit a quirky pop-up cafe, which is open every week-day afternoon, serving tea and cake.
Most recently, the museum hosted a fully-booked bug hunt in its beautiful garden, which saw 40 enthusiastic kids embark on a ‘mini-beast safari’.
The museum has also experienced a fantastic uptake of its ‘Time Travellers’ Crafternoons’. The arts-and-crafts sessions, which are led by two dedicated volunteers, explore the ancient civilisations of Greece, Rome and Egypt and run each Thursday afternoon, 2pm to 3.30pm.
Staff at the museum are delighted by the engagement they’ve had with the public. The sessions have created “a buzzing atmosphere”, said Amanda Pettey, one of the organisers, as the museum has received considerable interest from children and parents alike.
The Time Travellers’ Crafternoon will continue with a further session on August 24, and the pop-up-cafe will remain open until August 24.
