THE plug could be pulled on Petersfield's open-air swimming pool unless swimmers take the plunge in greater numbers.

The pool's committee say the 50-year-old facility is "no longer viable" in its present form and that operational losses and insufficient people coming forward to serve on the committee mean that the pool's golden jubilee year could be its last.

The cost of heating, maintenance and water is also rising, forcing bosses to dip into their reserves.
