WAVERLEY residents are being urged to be on their guard and report any sightings of three men in a royal blue van, believed to be connected to a number of burglaries in Surrey and Hampshire, to the police. The van has been spotted in the Haslemere area just off the A3 and is thought to be connected to a number of burglaries in Surrey and Hampshire involving the theft of flat screen televisions. The men have also been seen looking up the driveways of rural houses and could also be using the pretext of collecting second-hand clothing. The warning comes after a burglary in Grayswood on Wednesday, October 3, when thieves forced their way into a house in Clammer Hill Road, through a back window, and helped themselves to several large items including a Panasonic Viera digital LCD flatscreen TV and a wall safe containing cash, passports and jewellery worth several thousand pounds. A similar offence was reported on Monday, October 8, in Liphook, where again three flat screen TVs were among the items stolen. Four days later, a blue van was again seen near the village. The van stopped at several houses and each time one of the men would walk up the driveway, before the gang eventually drove off down Sandy Lane towards Hammer and Liphook. Anyone with information about these offences or any sightings of the three men or the blue van should inform investigating officer Barry Jutsum at Farnham police station on 0845 125 2222.
